Surprise, peas

Dinner tonight might be new potatoes, peas, a salad and a glass of wine. Dinner tomorrow at the Gisborne home of a dear friend has been dubbed The Last Supper.

After that, dinner will mostly be instant mashed potatoes and Surprise peas, rehydrated.

Too boring to blog about, except.

"Owing to supply chain problems" there was a nasty surprise, no Surprise peas to be had.

It took a systematic search of supermarkets in two towns by Number One Husband (NOH) to harvest a few packs, two to carry and the rest posted to a brother and a sister I'll visit en route.

Dried tomatoes have vanished, dried mushrooms have no appeal and those delicious seaweed sheets leave me hungry.

Anyway, I'm off tomorrow. My 53 day Surprise pea hunt.
